The Kemeny Prize is intended to encourage novel uses of computing by undergraduate students at Dartmouth College. To that effect, the Kemeny Prize rewards students who produce original, creative, well-designed, and well-implemented computer applications. Cash prizes are awarded to the best entries, as judged by a panel of Computer Science faculty.

Submission deadline: May 30, 2013

Tom Cormen's new book, Algorithms Unlocked, has been published by The MIT Press.  It is the 10,000th book title published by MIT Press.

Dartmouth will be hosting a site for the North American Computational Linguistics Olympiad (NACLO) on January 31, 2013. The olympiad is a test consisting of language puzzles, conducted across the US and Canada for students in grades 6-12. Registration is free, and all students who enjoy logic, math, and/or language are encouraged to participate. An information session will be held in early January to discuss problem-solving strategies for the test, and to answer questions about studying linguistics, computer science, and computational linguistics in college. Dartmouth CS was very well represented at the 2012 Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing, with a contingent of 30 students!
