Welcome!
My name is Alessandro. I am a second-year Ph.D. student at Dartmouth College supervised by Prof. Lorenzo Torresani.
My research interest is in the field of Computer Vision and Machine Learning. The idea to have artificial machines able to solve high-level human tasks has always fascinated me and comes as a thrill, in particular when dealing with vision tasks. My work involves the design or adaptation of machine learning algorithms followed by experimental prototyping and testing. At the same time, by personal attitude, I like to see things working in practice, a reason for why I also enjoy developing software, creating final products easily accessible to other users/researchers.
This Summer 2012 I will be working at Microsoft Research in Redmond for an internship.
In particular I will join the “Interactive Visual Media” group for three months, having the opportunity to work with great people in a high quality research center.
