SA 1, due Wed, Jan 7
This short assignment is just to acquaint you with the Processing environment. If you have any problems at all, please ask for help. Since we haven't yet set up regular lab hours, please check the announcements on Blackboard to find availability, or just email the course staff (cs2 -at- cs -dot- dartmouth -dot- edu).
- Obtain access to the CS Mac lab (005 Sudikoff). To do this, complete and return the Sudikoff Access form. See Christine Claudino (101 Sudikoff) if you have any problems.
- When you're in the Mac lab, fire up Processing -- it's on the Dock or in the Applications folder (look for the logo with a "P", below). Give it a whirl.
. - If you plan to work some on your own machine, download and install Processing on it.
If you are using a PC and will use your own webcam for that section of the course, you might also want to go ahead and install WinVDIG as well. The Processing site recommends that you use older version 1.0.1. There's not a huge hurry, but you're probably less busy now than you will be then. If you're using the Mac lab or have your own (reasonably recent) Mac, you're all set. (And that's the recommended, hassle-free way to go.) - Use Processing to create a sketch, any sketch. This can just be copied from somwhere, but be sure to acknowledge that, as outlined in the honor code guidelines for the course.
- Produce a zipfile of the sketch, using menu option "Tools" | "Archive Sketch".
- Turn in the zipfile on Blackboard. Go to the Assignments tab, select SA 1, and then use the "complete assignment" option. Do not use the digital dropbox. In the field where you can type in some information, please indicate that you have read and will follow the course policies on the CS 2 home page. Also, give me a few sentences about yourself to help me get to know you--your background, interests, etc., along with why you're taking this class and what you hope to gain from it.
