  • 12/9/05: Xiaoduan's paper "Hypergraph model of multi-residue interactions in proteins: sequentially-constrained partitioning algorithms for optimization of site-directed protein recombination" has been accepted to RECOMB-06.
  • 11/14/05: Hetu's paper "An efficient randomized algorithm for contact-based NMR backbone resonance assignment" has been accepted to Bioinformatics.
  • 11/3/05: We welcome Shelley Weaver and Megan Crapster, who have received WISP internships to join the multimodal project.
  • 11/1/05: Chris and Naren Ramakrishnan will be co-organizing the SIAM-DM 2006 Spatial Data Mining Workshop.
  • 10/25/05: Our paper with Mike Laskowski's lab, "Functional evolution within a protein superfamily", has been accepted to Proteins.
  • 10/5/05: We welcome Michal Gajda, from the Bujnicki lab, who will be visiting us for a while as part of our multimodal protein structure collaboration.
  • 9/9/05: We welcome Fei Xiong to the lab. Fei has been doing some cool research with the med school on microarray analysis. He will now begin pursuing graph algorithms for structure-based assignment in NMR.
  • 7/11/05: John's paper "Graphical models of residue coupling in protein families" has been accepted as a regular paper for presentation at BioKDD 2005.
  • QR 2006, the 20th International Conference on Qualitative Reasoning, will be held at Dartmouth, July 10-12, 2006.
  • 6/27/05: Shobha is giving a poster at ISMB: "Molecular symmetry as aid to homo-oligomeric protein structure determination by NMR, using sparse inter-molecular NOE restraints".
  • 5/24/05: Olga's paper "Reconsidering complete search algorithms for protein backbone NMR assignment" has been accepted to ECCB/JBI 2005.
  • 5/2/05: Mark has been selected as a Dartmouth Presidential Scholar. He'll be working on algorithms for design of protein recombination experiments.
  • 4/1/05: Congratulations to Olga, who has successfully defended her dissertation, "An inferential approach to protein backbone nuclear magnetic resonance assignment". Olga will be conducting postdoctoral research with Dr. Ruedi Aebersold.
  • 2/14/05: Chris has been selected as an Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellow (Dartmouth Vox article).
  • 1/05: Jiangtian's sequence-reactivity analysis paper hit the press.
  • 12/1/04: Liz won honorable mention in the CRA outstanding undergraduate award competition.
  • 11/30/04: Xiaoduan's cross-linking paper hit the press.
  • 11/28/04: An extended version of Sheetal's NMR random graph paper has been accepted to the special RECOMB issue of J. Comp. Bio.
  • 11/5/04: Isaura has received a WISP internship to support her work on the multimodal project this coming winter and spring.

  • 9/1/04: The multimodal project has been funded by the NSF's SEIII (science and engineering information integration and informatics) program, with an award to C. Bailey-Kellogg, B. Craig, and A. Friedman for the proposal "SEI(BIO): Integration of multimodal experiments for protein structure"
  • 8/20/04: Jiangtian's paper on analysis of sequence-reactivity space has been accepted to Proteins.
  • 7/22/04: Xiaoduan's paper on experiment planning and data analysis for cross-linking has been accepted to Protein Science.
  • 5/6/04: Olga's paper on statistical inference for NMR assignment has been published in Statistical Applications in Genetics and Molecular Biology.
  • 4/19/04: Liz has been selected to receive a Ruzicka award for summer research, from the Purdue School of Science.
  • 3/12/04: Olga has been selected to receive the Purdue Graduate Dissertation Fellowship.
  • 1/18/04: Olga is giving a poster "Model-based assessment of uncertainty and inference for protein backbone NMR assignments" at the Gordon Research Conference on Computational Aspects of Biomolecular NMR.
  • 12/5/03: Sheetal's paper "A random graph approach to NMR sequential assignment" is accepted for RECOMB 04.
  • 10/25/03: Shobha is giving a talk "Geometric algorithms for measuring distances in protein crosslinking" at the 9th Purdue Univ. Biophysics Symposium (PUBS-9).
  • 10/24/03: Tim is giving a talk "Solution scattering for model discrimination -- tests of a method" at the Argonne Symposium For Undergraduates.
  • 10/12/03: Olga is giving a poster "Model-based analysis of protein backbone NMR for structural genomics" at the Seventh Workshop on Case Studies in Bayesian Statistics.
  • 9/3/03: Shobha and Aly are lead authors on the paper "Geometric analysis of cross-linkability for protein fold discrimination", to be presented at PSB 2004.
  • 8/15/03: Shobha has been awarded the Ice Miller Graduate Student Scholarship, from Women & Hi Tech.
  • 8/10/03: Olga is giving a poster "Model-based analysis of protein backbone NMR for structural genomics" at the International Workshop on Bayesian Data Analysis.
  • 8/3/03: Olga is giving a talk "Model-based analysis of protein backbone NMR" at the Joint Statistical Meeting.
  • 7/24/03: ZhengPing Yi (Chemistry, Purdue) is giving a poster on work in collaboration with Olga, on "Sequence to reactivity algorithm helps with understanding the evolution of protein families" at the 17th Annual Symposium of the Protein Society.
  • 6/25/03: Congratulations to Shobha for successfully defending her MS thesis. Stay tuned for publications.
  • 5/20/03: Olga and Shobha are giving posters in the 26th Midwest Biopharmaceutical Statistics Workshop.
    Update: Olga won the best poster award.

  • 4/7/03: Noah has been awarded a Hughes bioinformatics fellowship to fund his work on developing NMR data interpretation software.
  • 2/21/03: Chris is overviewing the lab's work at the Purdue proteomics symposium.
  • 2/13/03: Chetak has been awarded a Hughes bioinformatics fellowship to fund his work on developing mass spec data interpretation software.
