India sabbatical

2008-09

The “backwaters” of Kerala are a network of brackish lagoons, lakes, and canals in the lowcountry of Kerala.  Over centuries people have dredged out rice paddies and villages, leaving a network of canals.  Today, converted rice barges carry tourists on overnight tours. We spent two days, with one night on the kettuvallam (houseboat) and one night in a resort hotel.  See blog entry and location.
