Partnership Summary

High Horses is a nationally certified therapeutic riding program, serving riders with disabilities such as autism, cerebral palsy, developmental delay, and emotional challenges. By involving their body and mind, riders gain increased self esteem, confidence, posture, balance, coordination, and so forth. High Horses is partnering with Dartmouth EPICS in order to improve their ability to match riders, horses, volunteers, and professionals. The EPICS software will take into account factors such as needs, abilities, specialties, preferences, and timing constraints, in order to determine riding schedules.

A series of sessions at the 2006 Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing featured the High Horses partnership. A video interview with Executive Director Liz Claud (quicktime or windows media) engaged participants in brainstorming about computing solutions to community problems. Please contact Chris Bailey-Kellogg regarding any further uses of the video.
