Lute Festival 2004 Events
Lute Tasting

Lutes of various types, by many different makers, were lined up in groups: 6-course, late Renaissance, 11-course and 13-course Baroque.  Then each was brought up to the front of the stage in turn, and after the details of maker, model and type of stringing had been announced, a short selection was played on it by one of the professional performers.  Ronn McFarlane played all of the Renaissance instruments, Cathy Liddell demonstrated the 11-course lutes and Bob Barto did all the late Baroque instruments.
