Lute Festival 2006 Classes
Catherine Liddell:  Understanding the Music of Francesco da Milano

Catherine Liddell’s Class was presented in a lecture/demonstration format.

“There is a very strong link between Josquin and Francesco.
If you listen to Josquin for hours and hours, you will have Francesco in your bloodstream.”

“Differentiate the long note values from the short – the long ones are more imprortant.” She played to illustrate her points.

“Pull a piece apart and play each voice separately. Try it as a trio or quartet to get the full effect of the interplay of the voices.” The class also was asked to play to illustrate ideas like this.
