The crowd pretty well filled up the fourth floor lounge of Hitchcock hall where the event took place.

This lute shown in all these pictures was made in 2004 by Richard Berg of Ottawa ON. It is modelled on a lute by Hans Burkholtzer, built in 1596 and converted to an 11 course lute by Thomas Edlinger in 1705, then later converted to a 13 course lute with the addition of the bass rider. This copy has rosewood ribs, whereas the original has ivory ribs. Courses 1 to 11 are 69 cm in length and courses 12 and 13 are 75 cm.

Other lutes were tried out during this session, including one made by John Butterfield of Seattle, but unfortunately no photos of them have been received. Photos here are courtesy Kenneth Bé.
