Lute Festival 2008 Faculty
Daniel Larson received a Certificate of Musical Instrument Technology, with Distinction, from the London College of Furniture in 1975. He has since been a prolific builder of violin family instruments, lutes, vihuelas, and baroque guitars. In addition to daily workshop production, he has been active in museum research on early violins and lutes, which has led to sometimes unconventional interpretations of how such instruments should be made and played. Mr. Larsons research into historical gut stringing, which showed what instruments are capable of when equipped with authentic strings, has helped to redefine the tone and response of early instruments.
