The first casualty of the day: "Got to get the keys.. thunk...
got to get the keys... THUNK ... ouch"
(modified with permission from the casualty - see
here for original)

Ok, its not what you think, and no, I'm not in some sort of trouble.
Really. Some people just save money and travel coach.

A lousy picture... But it says:
"THIS TRAIL IS EXTREMELY TOUGH.
IF YOU LACK EXPERIENCE PLEASE USE ANOTHER TRAIL.
TAKE SPECIAL CARE AT THE CASCADES TO AVOID TRAGIC RESULTS"
We got some good laughs from that one.

The Cascades mentioned...

Hydrating...

This was a nuclear bomb testing area ten years ago - wonderful recovery don't
you think...
(actually any suggestions as to why these trees are dead are
appreciated, the new growth looks healthy,
and the dead area isn't very large maybe a 100ft square... strange...)

Anka admiring the scene of destruction.. (actually it was pretty in strange way)

See told you so!

Approaching Mt. Moosilauke fairly quickly.. This is after an intense approx.
2 mile stretch of up up up....
It was amazing how fast we gained altitude...

CZ: "Man, I've got this splitting headache for some reason... Oh now I remember - the van..."

Some green hills, we travelled through... Can't you feel the peacefull green-ness?

Some hikers leaving the summit, when they smelled us...

CZ: Communing with the mountain...

Anka: "Hey, quit blocking my sunshine!"

Droola: "So we going already or not..."
(He kept trying to get us to go, and he sniffed out the correct trail too)

So we get to the top and find all these corpses...

"Hey who hit Brettski with this big rock here??"

Another victim sacrificed to the gentle mountain spirit...

Forensic documentation of the scene, from different angles...

"Wait up, let me catch my breath..."

Didn't know Dartmouth owned it all did'ja?

Droola taking off on his own, after realizing the futility of waiting...

Ancient worship site, or alien landing base?
(Actually the foundation of one of the old carriage road
houses.)

And the trail goes on...

Purdy flowers... What you thought I'd pass up a chance to take a flower pic?

"Hey there on the lower left hand corner, just keep your head right there."

Looking back at the north peak from the ridge going to the south peak.

Another one... I just can't NOT post these can I?

The south peak - "just follow the squirrel"
(adopted for the occasion from 'baby squirrels 04/01')

And we're done - this is the ridge we climbed - viewed from the road back were we started.

Nothing is better than a lot of water after a hike...

Umm, Capt., what were you doing???

"Hey look over there! Never mind you missed it..."

Man: a dogs best friend.

Self explanatory no? So this is what they call civilization?
