Vincenzo Capirola was a famous lute player in the early 1600's.
We know about him today because one of his students was an artist,
and decorated a manuscript of tablature with beautiful
pictures of animals. The book was preserved for the pictures
long after the music was of interest to people, and recently
people once again discovered the music. This is just what
the artist intended.
You can get a copy of Vincenzo Capirola's book from OMI (email@example.com) and check out the recording
You can now download a copy of the book directly from the Newberry library
