GB-London, British Library, Add.31392

DATE:c1605

Page measurements: approx. 193 x 262mm--somepages remounted at gutter.

Household or personal anthology in oblong folio format. Although theformat is unusual (but similar to Dd.3.18, the contents are fairly unexceptional for the time. The fact that thethree hands do not appear to overlap in any way is slightly more unusual, butnot wholly exceptional. They are all extremely regular and highly legiblehands, and some of the ascriptions for Francis Pilkington are written in such a way as to suggest asignature such as that found in Folger for John Johnson. However, the known practices surrounding lute booksand professional musicians make it less likely that this is the case.
