Abstract:

The delivery of clinical weight loss interventions is fraught with difficulties, particularly in rural areas where transportation difficulties and access to care are problematic. Mobile health (mHealth) technologies provide a potential solution for overcoming these challenges and successfully delivering health promotion interventions. We evaluated the potential of using technology in rural older adults with obesity. As part of initial usability testing, we also determined whether messaging from a mobile health (mHealth) device would be acceptable.
