I know I've done a poor job of keeping up this site; I'll be trying to fix the issues over the next few months.
I am in my fifth year as a Ph.D. student in the Trust Lab at Dartmouth College. I’m advised by Dr. Sean W. Smith and Dr. Sergey Bratus.
My research is securing data conduits, communications channels that computer systems use to interact with other devices. As new devices connect to the Internet, particularly the specialized embedded devices in the Internet of Things (IoT), current security methods such as monthly patch regimens will not be enough to stem the large numbers of attacks against them. I am looking at alternatives to traditional patching such as:
- Patch-on-the-fly,
- Formal verification of data, which includes incorporation of Language-Theoretic Security (LangSec), and
- Binary introspection techniques.
